Our Impact in Katie & Taylor’s Eyes

The Annual Golf 4 Guts Tournament is something our family holds dear to our hearts. When we started this journey in 2010, we never imagined how many people we would touch and the impact our work would have. As we head into our 11^th annual outing, we reflect on all the reasons why we do this. 

One of the many reasons why we started and continue to hold this event is because of the amazing awareness it brings to the IBD community. When we were diagnosed, back in the late 2000’s hardly anyone knew about our diseases. There were little discussions and only a small group that truly understood what we were going through. Through this tournament, we have been able to bring people together and create a sense of community for those who have been touched by Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis in some way. This community goes beyond one-day event, and there is an entire network of support to lean on whenever and whenever. 

We value the many connections that have been made over the past 11 years. We have formed lifelong relationships with those that have faced similar challenges with their disease. It is the most wonderful feeling to know that you are not alone and that others understand what you go through on a day-to-day basis. In addition, we love seeing the bond’s created in front of our very eyes, and the experiences that are shared on this joyous day. 

Last but not least, we do this tournament to show our support for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. The funds we raise on this special occasion go towards research and development of treatment for those with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis around the world. We hope to one day see a cure for our diseases, and that motivates us to raise more funds year after year. We are looking forward to having another successful year!
